Summer Runners @ Group 1 Racing

Summer is in full swing and we’ve been lucky with weather so far this year! This will suit our next two runners who both act on fast ground. Group 1’s new addition, an exciting juvenile hurdler Dover The Moon (IRE) (with an impressive pedigree) & Lordship (IRE), winner of 5 races (and over £26,000 in prize money) will both be appearing in the coming months!

Group 1 Racing acquired Dover The Moon (IRE) in early July 2014 and he has been jumping most days. Initially he was schooled over poles and barrels (see video) but is now clearing the jumps quite nicely! He will have his first run over hurdles at Newton Abbot on 13th August and his 2nd run will follow shortly after, running at Stratford on 28th August.

Lordship wins at Ayr

Lordship (IRE) will be racing at Worcester in a novice chase during September. After a spring break at Peopleton Racehorse Care, followed by pre-training with Jake Payne, Lordship has been back in full work for the past 2 months, gracing the gallops daily and getting back to full fitness!

For the last 4 months, Group 1 Racing members & prospective members have had the opportunity to regularly visit the stables, gallops & schooling facilities at Tom Gretton Racing, Inkberrow. A club meet-up is being held on the 4th Saturday of each month – allowing everyone to watch the horses train on the gallops, get the inside info from the yard, meet the horses and have a good old catch up over bacon sarnies and a cup of coffee afterwards! This is proving to be extremely popular with our members and encourages the social side of racehorse ownership.

The next club meet-up will be 23rd August – if you are interested in attending you can contact Laura, either via email grettonlaura@hotmail.co.uk or by phoning 07789754806.

Swing State and That’s Ben (IRE) are both enjoying their Summer Break – chewing the grass and chilling out, ready to start work in the Autumn.
