Yesterday saw Group 1 Racing celebrate its 60th Winner! Thats Ben (IRE), ridden by James Davies, won a Handicap Chase at Plumpton – marking a very proud day for both the members of the club and Middle Bouts Farm, where is he trained under Tom Gretton Racing.

Totepool Racing’s Biggest Supporter Handicap Chase
Previously, Thats Ben (IRE) was having some difficulty with his breathing at the end of runs; in December ‘14 he underwent an operation to help correct his wind, allowing him to breathe much more easily when under pressure at the end of races. The operation was a great success and has clearly paid off! Plumpton was his 2nd outing since the operation – he ran well in his first but needed the run. This was his first win under rules off a nice mark of 73.
Ben came out of his race well – a welcome party went to see him back at the yard in the sunshine this morning, giving him some well-earned carrots and a good pat! The team are already planning his next race, running again under a penalty either at Ffos Las on Sunday 12th, or Southwell on Friday 17th April – keep in touch with us via twitter or Facebook for more updates on this!
A date for your diary….
Our next scheduled Group 1 Member get-together is planned for Saturday 18th April – in addition to the normal bacon butties, we’ll be bringing out the bubbles to toast this great achievement! As usual, we will meet at Middle Bouts Farm in Inkberrow at 11.30am. If you’re not currently a member of Group 1 but are interested in what we do, please feel free to pop along and meet us all!
